Back to My Mac saves a stolen laptop
Posted May 9th 2008 3:00PM by Robert Palmer
Filed under: Odds and ends, .Mac

A clever Mac user helped police recover a stolen laptop using Back to My Mac's screen-sharing feature.

After her apartment was burglarized, the victim received a call from a friend while she was at work (conveniently enough, at the Apple Store in Westchester, NY). The friend noticed her stolen computer was online. The victim then quickly used another Mac to connect to the stolen laptop.

The article doesn't mention the technical details, but I reckon she activated screen sharing, and started Photo Booth (or another app that activates the laptop's built-in iSight camera). After a while, the perps showed up, and the victim's roommate recognized one of them as an acquaintance who had attended a party at their apartment some weeks before.

Armed with names and photos of the alleged thieves, police quickly arrested two men, who were in possession of most of the property stolen in the burglary.

If that isn't worth her year's subscription to .Mac, I don't know what is.

(Update: The New York Times has a story with some more details. She used Photo Booth, too. Who called it, baby?

Sick Joke! would you do that to your kid?

Some parents decided to play a prank invlving their son(yeap the guy with the strange hair). They got him an "XBOX". An XBOX in case you do not know it is a NEXT generation game machine. BUT!

What they did is they get him a XBOX BOX and not the macxhine itself. The box was empty with clothes. For all of you out there who have been kids i guess you will aggree with him that making a prank like this and getting enjoyment out of it is at least sick.

I am happy that my parents never tried to pull pranks on me when i was so young. This comes from engadget
When you were a kid did your parents ever do anything mean to you for their own amusement? Whatever it was, something tells us it wasn't as evil as what Jonathan's (above) family did on Christmas morning, having him unwrap an empty Xbox box with some shirts inside -- while on video, mind you -- and then everyone laughing at him when he got upset and cried over being hoodwinked. For the love of all that is holy in the gadget-loving world, that is so wrong. Despite the fact his family told Jonathan multiple times in the video, "C'mon, you know we can't afford an Xbox!", the kid's shining example of an older brother (who uploaded the video) claims that they actually did get him the console, and that he'd eventually upload the video of the "real" unwrapping. He never did. Right.

The best laugter in the world

Hi all, Unfortunately i got a serious viral infection and today i have been in the hospital for 8 hours trying to kill the virus. I am having a really bad time and it gets amplified that i have no friends in tokyo or family to support me. I have to say that my supervisor today left the office took me to the hospital took care of everything and i would be in twice the pain if it wasn't for her.

TO cheer my up i have been looking non stop at this video. I challenge all of you to watch it without laughing.

Hoho! BUsh Vs Teen South Carolina

p>hoho. Somebody sent me this videos on Youtube and I couldn't resist the temptation. I had to post them. They are hilarious. 2 of the greatest Minds face each other in VERBAL KOMBAT. For the record I will also post Miss Teen South Carolina's answer to a question which proves that stupidity is invicible. What is more satisfying is how Mr. Bush gives speeches. Listen to phrases like put "food on the family"

The Ps3 Song

Everybody knows I am a PS fan. I bought PSX, PS2 and PS3(although never used it).  The truth is SONY has disappointed their fans. After 6 months since the release and PS3 has neither any exciting games, nor any exclusive ones. TO be honest they do not have any games at all!

The console market is like the razor and blades models. You get a console but if there are not any available games for it then you did not make a good choice. In the end though i believe SONY will prevail because of the better hardware.

Wii is doing superbly but gamers(like me) will not buy Wii. WIi is for the non gamers, the ones who view gaming as something light and irrelevant(like my cousin). My brother and me will opt in for a gaming console which is suported by heavyweights! But on the other hand SONy deserves some beating. It is taking enough beating already, check out this fan-made song!

Politicians, business people almost everybody has to make some presentations. The President of the USA has an ability mesmerizing his audiences with his eloquence.

He is a natural born Speaker, unlike me.  Do you know who is the genious behind these wonderful speeches?
